Set up the rooms you will keep using
Decide where meals, laundry, sleep and work will happen. A bathroom remodel needs an agreed alternative bathroom; a kitchen remodel needs a workable food and cleanup arrangement.
- Choose a route that avoids the work zone.
- Move fragile and frequently used belongings early.
- Discuss whether part of the project requires staying elsewhere.
Agree on access and daily communication
Document permitted working hours, parking, deliveries, keys and the daily contact. Tell the supervisor about pets and household routines so access decisions are settled before the crew arrives.
- Keep pets away from construction areas.
- Agree on how work zones are secured after hours.
- Pick one channel for schedule updates.
Prepare for the handover in stages
Ask when rooms become usable, when finishes can be cleaned and what remains on the correction list. A room can look finished before every product is ready for normal use.
- Request product-specific care instructions.
- Photograph agreed outstanding items.
- Keep the warranty contact and project records together.
